A popular Rendezvous in the Community…

An exciting new display by a Cambridge artist has just opened at a popular community hub. Rebecca Stark, well known in the City for her beautiful handmade clocks and unique art, which is developed with a wide range of  medium including acrylics, gouache, pen and ink and graphite and pastel, is currently displaying an exciting collection of her beautiful prints at the Melbourn Community Hub…

Rebecca told a Hub representative: “Having completed a BA Honours degree in Brighton in the early 1990’s, I’ve continued with my passion to create. I’m inspired by anything and everything, both in the natural world and manmade.” The display continues through to the end of the month.

The exhibition was initially booked many months ago but was yet another unfortunate victim of Covid. In fact, the Hub Atrium had almost 18 months of artists’ bookings confirmed just before the series of lockdowns struck the Nation.

It was decided by the directors to take advantage of the closure to refit and upgrade the building, which opened in 2014, so the actual reopening was delayed until last month. The result is that not only four magnificent and enviable meeting rooms, all of which are well appointed, (offering a service that is more confidential than many others) have emerged, but there are also accessible disabled toilets on both floors. The well frequented Bookmark Cafe has been refurbished to a high standard and purveys not only hot and cold food, but homemade cakes, and excellent Barista style coffee. The building also houses the local library, and hosts bookable sessions of the Citizens Advice Bureau on a Wednesday from 10am until midday. The monthly Saturday Dementia Cafe has also resumed.

Upcoming is a Yuletide Folk Show on the 5th December with the popular Megsons, and tickets are now available.

The Melbourn Community Hub is easily and safely accessed with a free car park opposite, and a pedestrian crossing.
