Anyone for Tennis?

March 30, 2015 by Molly Everitt

sketch-of-woman-with-tennis-racket-vector-illustration_G1n22f_uWould you like to try out a new sport?

Royston Tennis Club is launching a new adult programme suited to players new to the game, or players who do not feel confident enough to join a club environment. Come along to our FREE open day on Saturday 11th April 2015, 10am – 12pm to try out the following activities.

Tennis Xpress: a new type of coaching in which players will learn the basics of tennis over the course of just a few weeks. We use a variety of coaching aids including training rackets and balls to speed up improvement. Tennis Xpress is perfect for adults looking to get into the sport for the first time or those returning to the sport after a break. We also have a new Tennis Xpress club evening for players to come along to play with others of a similar ability.

Cardio Tennis: A fun form of tennis where player movement and activity is most important. More focus is put on improving fitness than hitting high quality shots. It’s great way to get in shape for the summer months. Cardio tennis is for the person that wants to get fit and have great fun while doing so!

Touch Tennis: this is Tennis played on a smaller court with smaller rackets and lower compression balls. This levels the playing field allowing all players to compete fairly. Touch tennis is great fun and can be enjoyed by players of all abilities.

Open Day, Heath Sports Club, Sat 11th April , 10am – 12pm

Hidden Royston: Keeping Royston Safe?

A straw poll of residents in Royston High Street one grey Monday morning found a broad acceptance of CCTV cameras in public places. “If you’ve nothing to hide, why would you worry?” was a typical response, and others were reassured and felt safer. I was standing under one of the CCTV cameras in 11 locations around the town centre and it was … [Read More...]
