Freemasons Temple Bar Masonic Lodge 1728

Freemasons Temple Bar Masonic Lodge 1728

What does Freemasons do? Freemasons Lodge was set up in 1878 – masonic fraternity practicing historic ceremonies and traditions. Freemasonry helps to improve oneself and build respect and empathy for others. Offers peer support and moral guidance to its members, and supports local charities, causes & community initiatives.

Who are the key people in the organisation? Matt Humphries; Lodge Membership Officer

Who is the group aim for? Adult males of any background, faith or culture.

Where you are based, when you are open, or when do you meet? Temple Bar Lodge meets for practice and social gatherings every Tuesday evening at the Royal Masonic Hall, 2 Jepps Ln, Royston SG8 9AP

We hold formal masonic meetings 4 times a year and our members have the opportunity to visit and attend social networking events & formal meetings at other lodges across the country.

Tell us about any fundraising?  We select a chosen charity each year to support financially and provide ad-hoc donations to good causes and initiatives in our area. Family events, such as our annual hog roast or charity galas have also raised thousands of pounds for good causes in the past.

Do you have any news of upcoming events? We are an old and established lodge who will soon celebrate its 150th birthday!  We run regular events for our members and their families throughout the year, including formal dinners, Charity Galas, Ladies nights and social outings!

Any other messages that you wish to get across?  “The secret of Masonry, like the secret of life, can be known only by those who seek it, serve it and live it”

How can someone become a member / use your services / get involved?  If you would like to enquire about membership or visit the lodge for an informal chat and tour, please contact the membership officer – templebar.royston@gmail.com

We are a friendly group of French learners and native speakers who get together to speak French in a relaxed environment.
We meet on the last Wednesday of every month in a bar in the centre of Royston for a drink and chat. Every level of French is welcome (but no under 18s, sorry)!
We meet at 7:30pm, but feel free to turn up later if it suits you.
We will have a reserved table with a meetup sign so that we are easy to find (or just ask at the bar).

Heathlands Animal Sanctuary

Heathlands Animal Sanctuary is a registered charity based in Royston, Hertfordshire, and is run solely by volunteers dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of unwanted domestic pets.  The organisation takes in dogs, cats, rabbits, and some types of caged birds. They do not rescue wildlife. Every year they find secure, loving new homes for 300–400 animals, most of whom would otherwise have been destroyed in council pounds when their 7 days are up.  Heathlands have a policy of non-destruction, which means they will never destroy a healthy, well-balanced animal. They do not have premises, most of their animals are cared for by foster carers in their own homes. Some dogs are boarded at commercial kennels until they have a foster space. By placing animals in foster homes they get a much better idea of their temperaments, and in particular, they can find out if dogs get along with children, cats and other dogs, as well as introducing some basic training - something many have never had.

Heathlands Animal Sanctuary has rehomed most animals in the Herts/Cambs/Beds area although adoptions nationwide are considered. A donation for each animal, when they are rehomed, is asked for to recover some costs.
