Hi! I’m Clare, the owner of Pentlebay – a Royston-based womenswear clothing brand. I founded Pentlebay in 2018. My husband and I run our online business from our home in Royston, where we also live with our children.
Where did the name Pentlebay come from?
Having grown up in Cornwall, my inspiration came from my favourite beach – Pentle Bay, on the Isles of Scilly. I still take my children there every summer!
How was Pentlebay born?
With 10 years retail experience, I was a busy working mum struggling to find a good online brand for clothes. I’ve always loved clothes, so one evening I decided to sketch out some designs. I showed them to my husband and we haven’t looked back since.
What is your main focus with Pentlebay?
I love wearing dresses, so that’s what I love designing in particular. I try to use a mix of different prints and colours and there is also some Breton stripe in amongst the designs – probably my Cornish side coming out!
What is important to you with your brand?
We use viscose or cotton as they are biodegradable, which is really important to us. Also keeping the designs original and timeless – I want people to be able to wear them again and again.
I hope you love the range as much as me!
