Tickets: £22 | £11 (under 25)
Zoe’s new album, Blue Town, is a selection of bittersweet songs and features multi-award winning guitarist Jim Mullen and the incomparable Ross Stanley on Hammond organ. The repertoire includes classic standards with fresh arrangements. Zoe’s beautiful voice set against the rich layers of the organ and guitar lines make this trio sound like a miniature orchestra.
Ruth Wall, Harpland
Friday 27 May, 7:45pm
Tickets: £22 | £11 (under 25)
Scottish harp virtuoso Ruth Wall and Cornish composer Graham Fitkin have taken old Gaelic songs from LPs and tunes from bagpipe and fiddle books to make ‘creative transcriptions’ for Ruth’s three harps – the sitar-like Renaissance bray harp, the beautiful medieval Gaelic wire harp (clàrsach) and the Scottish lever harp. Ruth’s long-term research into the pibroch piping technique – a highly ornamental style underpinned by a drone – informs her playing style and inspires the sound world of this fascinating and unique concert, combining ancient oral sources with modern technology.
