Giving Lysa Precious Time
After receiving Lutate therapy for an incurable malignant Insulinoma at Addenbrookes hospital Meldreth lady, Lysa Kemp enjoyed a happy symptom free year to spend with her family. The treatment is not funded by the NHS and was provided exceptionally on compassionate grounds.
However Lysa now requires more therapy to extend her life further, but this will have to be privately funded at a cost of £28,000.
On Sunday afternoon the Melbourn Hub was a buzz with over a hundred well wishers enjoying a Cream Tea Fundraiser, and participating in a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.
One of the leading organisers, Johanna Barnaby, was overwhelmed with the support offered by so many local folk.
“There has been huge support, and as much as £21,000 has been raised in just two months, in the form of various activities including a fun run and a bike marathon from London to Cambridge, which means that Lysa can start her treatment in a couple of weeks, “ she explained enthusiastically.
Johanna’s family have all been assisting with the events. Her husband, Gregg covered the 62 mile bike ride in just under five hours. On Sunday the family turned up to help with the Hub event, with son Zach assisting with the raffle tickets.
As much as £500 was raised at the Event.
