Unlike many aspects of your wedding like the cake and the flowers, your wedding bands will last a lifetime so it’s worth spending time finding the perfect pair.
While plain bands will always remain classic, at Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery we have seen a number of trends across bespoke wedding ring design. As engagement rings become increasingly decorative, customers are choosing to complement the design with stone set wedding rings. This is a great option if your job requires you to remove your engagement ring as you will still be left with an interesting wedding ring.
It’s also important to consider whether you would like a matching wedding band (i.e depth, width and profile) or if you would like a contrasting design to your engagement ring. It’s not always easy finding a wedding ring that fits comfortably alongside an unusual engagement ring but we can design a fitted wedding band that matches the shape while enhancing the engagement ring rather than upstaging it.
Men are also choosing more design led wedding rings over plain bands. As bespoke designers, we work with many men who wish to create something unique, often choosing contrasting finishes or engraving to mirror a certain aspect of their partner’s ring.
In terms of metal, yellow gold has been a particularly popular choice for the last year but platinum and palladium follow closely behind. We’ve also seen an increase in mixing metals as well as the use of Fairtrade gold which is a great ethical choice.
