The Listing started as an idea back in 2005, whilst I was at home with my youngest daughter. In the days before Facebook, I felt that the community was lacking in timely, accurate information on what was happening in the Royston area. Mix this gap in with a desire to run my own business ever since I can remember, my customer service and marketing background – and The Listing was born! I love the challenges that publishing in the digital age brings – combining our print publication with our website and social media channels is exciting and means that your content reaches a larger audience across both print and digital platforms. I’m often asked if print is still relevant in 2019… the feedback from readers and our clients is that truly local, community and business content is still highly valued and relevant in print – and is actually more accessible by arriving directly through letterboxes than across the vastness of the internet, by residents of all ages.
It’s a privilege to be so involved with life in Royston and work with so many local businesses and organisations – they’re at the heart of what we do and make our community what it is! For a small town, we have so much on offer to see, do and experience.
Alongside managing the production of The Listing and future direction of the business, I focus my work efforts now on our sister company, The Listing Marketing Company. on a variety of design, digital and print projects for local businesses.
In my spare time, you’re likely to find me outdoors in the fresh air – walking, gardening, travelling to new places, or spending time with friends or family over food and drinks.
I joined The Listing team in October 2013 and specialise in our Advertising and Media Sales. I really enjoy working with all businesses and the community, and here at The Listing I get the opportunity to work and speak to so many different types of industries and organisations in helping them reach their target market, and ensure they are getting the most out of their advertising and marketing, as you can imagine no one day is ever the same. You’ll often see me around at various networking / community events, so be sure to keep me in touch with business-based events and news in the town!
In my spare time, I love travel and anything to do with fitness – I’d like to say always keen to try something new but within limits! I’m currently a member of Royston Runners and often seen at the 6am Fighting Fit sessions on the Heath. Both clubs are very supportive and during my time there I get to meet lots of inspirational people and often get to meet a lot of the faces behind our local businesses and organisations.
Great Ormond Street Hospital is a charity very close to my heart, which is who most of my fundraising is for, I am part of a fundraising team #TeamCerysD and in 10 years we have collectively raised over £55k for the charity!

I recently joined The Listing team in September 2019 after taking a gap year upon the completion of my A Levels. I’m a trainee chef at a local Royston restaurant and next year I’ll be off to university to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics with the desire to become a political journalist afterwards. The Listing has offered me the great opportunity to learn and experience the inner workings of a publication and is teaching me marketing, administration and software skills that I’ll be able to carry forward in any future career. I’m especially enjoying my correspondence with local businesses and charities which has opened my eyes to how great our community really is.
In my own time, I’m an avid reader on non-fiction and classics, a regular swimmer and TV binger. My favourites include Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Homeland and 24.

I met and began working with the Listings team back in September 2018. It so refreshing to work with a local business and local companies, as you really feel like you are making a difference.
I have been creating the loveliness for individuals, small businesses, independents, shopping centres, national corporates and international companies since 1997. Producing a wide range of creative from Corporate Identities to brochures, flyers, adverts, annual reports, POS, exhibition design, recycling design, web design and everything in-between.
I began my own business, CWE Creative (Clark Without an E Ltd), 14 years ago which enables me to create exactly what my clients need and want. People often ask why my company is called what it is – my answer is that my maiden name was Clark – and I got so fed up of having to say ‘Clark without an e’ that I named my business it.
Also in that time I have also created 2 little boys.
So apart from being a busy working mum I also have a secret talent for tap dancing and cake making!
Laurie Brewster, What’s On Coordinator
I’m currently at Northumbria University doing my degree in Marketing Management. I’ve always had a keen interest in business and I love the social aspect of being at university in a city as fantastic as Newcastle. I’ve been interested in writing and journalism for a long time but really got invested after studying English Language at A level. I have since made good friends writing for “The Tab”, a student-run news website, as I like to exercise my creativity and hear other people’s feedback to keep giving me ideas and motivation.
I really admire and appreciate how beneficial The Listing is for the community as it promotes so much fantastic work that’s going on in and around Royston. I’m really excited to be working for a magazine as I love having a physical product as the result of all our hard work every month and the experience is so valuable to me.

Joining The Listing is an invaluable opportunity to develop my skills within publishing, a career path that I have wanted to explore since completing my A-Levels in Saffron Walden. I currently work as a Learning Support Assistant at a small primary school supporting children in Year 5/6 and I am also studying towards a degree in English Language with the Open University. The Listing has offered the chance to explore a new avenue and utilise my writing skills gained from studying English.
In my spare time, I enjoy running in the countryside and love reading fiction books.
