Cath Boughton, Director
I set up The Listing back in September 2005, just as my youngest child started full-time school. In the days before Facebook, I felt that the community was lacking in timely, accurate information on what was happening in the Royston area. Mix this gap in with a desire to run my own business ever since I can remember, my customer service and marketing background – and The Listing was born!
It’s been such a privilege to be so involved with life in Royston and work with such brilliant local businesses and organisations! I don’t think I ever dared to dream that The Listing would take off as it has , and it is indicative of the positive attitude and can-do people in the area that makes The Listing what it is today. For a small town, we have so much to offer and it’s thriving.
I now work behind the scenes on the business, and lead a new marketing services company – The Listing Marketing Company.
In my spare time, I am a keen gardener and allotmenteer, with mixed results. I love the fresh air and find it the perfect antidote to sitting at my PC!
I joined The Listing team in October 2013 and specialise in our Advertising and Media Sales. My background prior to this was very much working with individuals, businesses, and organisations as an insurance broker here in Royston and the surrounding Herts/Cambs areas some of which I still speak to each month but for marketing rather than insurance requirements!
I really enjoy working with all businesses and the community, and here at The Listing I get the opportunity to work and speak to so many different types of industries and organisations in helping them reach their target market, and ensure they are getting the most out of their advertising and marketing, as you can imagine no one day is ever the same.
You’ll always see me around at various networking / community events, so be sure to keep me in touch with business-based events and news in the town!
Personally, I am a keen runner having completed my first ever marathon in April 2017 and now training for my next one next year – Royston Runners is a great club, very supportive and inspirational! Great Ormond Street Hospital is a charity very close to me which is who most of my fundraising is for, I am part of a fundraising team called ‘Team CerysD’ and in 8 years we have collectively raised over £30k for the charity!
Along with the rest of the team, I love the community focus of the magazine. It’s a great feeling to include an article that is going to raise the profile of a local event or give our readers new of what’s happening in the local area. My background is mixed in that I started my career as an insurance underwriter and came to The Listing via childcare, stainless steel components & solar panel installation! I live in Royston and have really enjoyed meeting people from local businesses and organisations. In my spare time I am a bit of a crafter and love making things from repurposed materials
Having lived in Royston my whole life I love the focus on community of the Listing Magazine and seeing what Royston and around has to offer. I’m also very keen to learn more in the marketing, advertising and media industry. After getting my A Levels at Long Road in PE Biology and Psychology, although I enjoyed it, I decided I wanted to take my career in a different direction. I liked the idea working on a magazine and learning what goes on behind the scenes. Eventually I may want to focus this to the fashion as fashion and beauty is one of my passions. Working at the Listing is giving me the knowledge and experience I need to possibly take my career further into the industry. It is also allowing me to meet and work with many of the local businesses in and around Royston. In my spare time I play football for Royston Town Ladies and I also play netball.
The Distribution Team
Our distributors are an invaluable part of The Listing. Reaching 16500 households every month is no mean feat! We have a mix of reliable adults and teenagers who cover between 115 and 2000 households each month. Within five days, The Listing goes from four pallet-loads of boxes to arrive in 16,500 letterboxes throughout the SG8 postcode – more than any other local publication!
Right now, all of our rounds are covered and we have the capacity to cover any temporary “gaps” as needed. We have a waiting list of people looking for a round however, so if you know someone who would like join the waiting list or be available for temporary cover, please get in touch. We are also looking to grow our team of “Spotters” who can feed back any potential problems to ensure we always stay at the top of our game. Please let us know if you would like to be a “Spotter” for us!
