Rebecca Dawson, Group Chair of the Stag Walkers, said: “Winter is a wonderful time to take some time out, go walking and enjoy the cold crisp air and striking frosty landscapes, and of course it’s a great way to burn off the effects of any festive over-indulgence! We’re looking forward to people walking with us.”

The Festival Of Winter Walks is organised by the Ramblers, the charity which helps everyone, everywhere, enjoy walking and protects the places we all love to walk. It’s the ideal ‘festive uplift’ – Ramblers’ research from winter 2017 found that nearly half (46%) of adults surveyed said they sometimes felt socially isolated or lonely.

TV presenter Fiona Phillips is backing the Festival Of Winter Walks. She is an ambassador for People’s Postcode Lottery, whose players raise money for the Ramblers and other good causes. She says: “A walk in the fresh air is good for the soul and it helps us to reconnect with nature at this time of year. The festive season can leave many of us feeling anxious and stressed out, but it’s also a chance to make a new start. With support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery, the Ramblers are helping tens of thousands of people to start discovering the perks of walking for your health. So, if you like the sound of getting outdoors more often, why not join this incredible charity during the Festival Of Winter Walks?”
