The Hub’s Fun Packed Halloween Festival
Melbourn Community Hub ended its Spooky Spectacular Festival with a fun packed Halloween children’s party. Following a weekend of scary ghost walks around the village for older juveniles and adults, youngsters were given the chance to dress up, enjoy party food and play games, including the eye and spoon race, and ‘Wrap the Mummy!’
The party, for 30 local children aged two to nine years was organised by Hub director, Nikki Cross, along with Julie and Heather from the Melbourn Playgroup.
Director, Jeannie Seers, leader of the Hub’s Calendar of Events team said “there was such a happy atmosphere. The children’s costumes were all fantastic, featuring Werewolves, witches, a hulk, and a stormtrooper amongst many others. Melbourn Hub is a charity, and prides itself on providing a variety of affordable or free entertainment for everyone through its partnerships with other local groups and charities. Melbourn Amateur Dramatic Society (MADS) performed the Ghost Walks, and as the Christmas season evolves, the Hub is working with the Nicola Emmerson Trust on the November Craft Fair, which was a complete sell out last year, and with the Melbourn Fete team to bring the annual ‘Turn On To Christmas’event in December, featuring music, children’s activities, and, of course, ‘Santa’s Grotto’. All of this continuing programme of events demonstrates how much a community working together can achieve.”
