New Year, New Challenge
The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to try something new and The Meridian Triathlon Club are always welcoming new members whatever stage of fitness, gender or age.But don’t just take it from us, hear what current members have said about starting triathlons and joining our club since we were founded in 2015.
“I turned 55 last year and I set myself 55 challenges and one of them was to do a triathlon. I then got my bike and did my first triathlon event last September. It’s an amazing feeling of being able to do something that you didn’t actually know you could do. I love the confidence it has given me and being part of a team and group gives you that boost!”– Beth Hart
“Three years ago my wife saw an advert for beginners running at Wimpole Hall. After 4/5 weeks I completed a 5k…then a 10k… then 10 miles and then a half marathon. My wife then suggested soon after that we should try swimming together and after meeting Alice Barnes (MTC Chair) she suggested that I should start looking into triathlons. I thought what a challenge that would be at 57! It has given me a new set of friends and I look forward to the training”. – Mark Whitehead
“I got into triathlons because the doctors had told me I should start running which I had never done in my life. I was a swimmer as a kid, so I could do the swimming and that’s nearly a triathlon! Little did I know I could ride a bike. It’s led me back to the pool which I haven’t been near in years and the only running I had done in my first 52 years was to catch a train. It has given me a whole new outlet in life!” – Elspeth Goodspeed
