Automation has and will continue to change our lives in ways we can’t even begin to imagine. The implementation of these technologies has had severe consequences according to Andrew Yang’s ‘The War on Normal People’.
Yang, a Democratic candidate in the upcoming US Presidential Election, paints a grim picture of America’s future. There are record numbers of: addiction, suicide, disability claimants, divorce and those leaving the workforce for good. Yang attributes a lot of this to automation and the rise of AI.
In what Yang calls the Fourth Industrial Revolution, professions once seen as untouchable will soon be able to be done more effectively by a machine. His solution to the problem is pegged as revolutionary by some, and utterly ridiculous by others.
