Museum Musings: The Royston Tapestry Is Complete

With the last stitch now in place, we’re excited that the Royston Tapestry is complete! What a great way to start 2019!

We’re now looking for people to help get this amazing piece of embroidery ready for display. We’ve got big plans and want to make it a real community effort.
You don’t have to be a stitching expert to get involved, as we have a variety of roles and tasks available.

We’re looking for sewers of all levels, both hand and machine stitchers, embroiderers, ironers, fabric handlers and general helpers and calligraphers. We’re also looking for loaned supplies including sewing machines, embroidery hoops, press cloths and soft towels, irons, seam rippers as well as donations of unbleached broadcloth, border ribbon, Velcro ribbon, quilting thread and hand stitching needles. Please speak to our curator first to let her know what you can offer.

You’ll be part of Royston history when you get involved with this project that was first thought up around 30 years ago. Many people have worked on the tapestry since then and here’s another chance to join in. How amazing to know that you’ve been a part of something so special. It doesn’t matter if you’ve lived in Royston all your life, or are brand new to the town, we’d love for you to get involved.
