News From Royston Market: Stress-Free Shopping

As a result of the Government’s decision on the 23rd March to close all non-essential shopping outlets, Royston Market has had to scale back its operation and allow only those pitches selling food to trade.

It was not clear exactly how this might affect the market but in the last month there has been a considerable increase in the number of people choosing to shop on both Wednesdays and Saturdays.

It has been good to hear so many positive comments about the quality of the produce on offer, particularly from shoppers who had formerly not chosen to use the market.

However, perhaps the most encouraging feedback received throughout this difficult period has related to the social distancing measures that are in place for shoppers.

With fewer traders, now that just food is being sold, it has been relatively easy to configure pitches in a way which enables shoppers to have clear sight of other people on the market.
The 360 degree visibility that is afforded to our customers has provided them with the comfort that they can easily maintain the recommended two metre distance from fellow shoppers and hopefully have a stress free shopping experience.

The Royston Market would like to say thank you to both traders and customers alike for making market days so positive at this challenging time.
