Out and About… Royston Kite Festival and Historic Vehicle Show

Royston will be reaching for the sky again on Sunday 6th August for the annual Kite Festival and the Historic Vehicle Show.

Last year the festival, organised by Royston Rotary Club, had great kite flying weather and bumper crowds, which helped to raise £12,000 for various charities – notably Hertfordshire Mind Network (a local mental health charity) and Hope and Homes (an international charity supporting orphaned children – especially now in Ukraine).

This year the festival organisers are hoping for great weather and even greater crowds. Rotarian Martin Berry said: “As always, there will be a fun fair, stalls, attractions and a spectacular kite flying display. Car parking is free and so is admission for children (under 14). And it’s still only £4.00 for adults!

“But it’s not all watching. Children have their own session where they bring along their kites for flying in the main arena, or they will be able to make kites with their own designs. And of course, there will be the highly popular Teddy Bear Drop – weather permitting. The fun starts at 10.30am and runs until 4.30pm.”

Martin added: We are forever grateful to our sponsors – in particular Johnson Matthey; Royston First; Tees Law & NCPI – for their help and support. Without their generosity, the event could not take place.”
