The Virtual Dementia Experience, the only one of its kind in the UK, came to Margaret House recently, to give more staff and members of the local community the opportunity to experience what living with dementia is likely to be like.

Watch Commander Steve Greaves said “The tour has given us a massive insight into Dementia and from this we can use the valuable skills we have learned and apply them to the community we serve in line with our Telecare trial which allows us as a fire and rescue service to assist the vulnerable.”

Royston Business Network members also found the experience eye opening. Dave Winkworth spoke for the group when he said “It has totally changed how I thought about dementia, it was completely enlightening and is an experience that everyone should have”. dementia-experience-1
