Spotlight On… Royston Royal British Legion Branch and Club

Based in Mill Road in Royston, discover more about your local British Legion Branch and Club, which formed over 85 years ago.

British Legion Branch
For the past 100 years Royal British Legion Branch members have kept faith with their founder’s commitment to the armed forces community of serving personnel, veterans and their dependents. Formed from the ashes of the First World War, the Legion has had to adapt and develop over a century of conflicts. Throughout, the Legion has been there to create better lives for service and ex-service personnel and campaigns nationally for their welfare. The Covenant campaign was initiated by the Legion and is now enforced in law. We can reach every town and village where help is needed with a network of nationwide branches such as Royston (95 years since forming). The Legion is responsible for the Poppy Appeal, Remembrance Sunday in Whitehall and the Albert Hall Festival of Remembrance and at the Arboretum. Branches are responsible for local November Sunday services and offer the benefits of Legion membership. The Legion is best summed up by HM the Queen who wrote “I send my heartfelt congratulations to you and commend your one hundred years of service”.
Legion membership is open to all by online application at www.britishlegion.org.uk

Royston Legion Club in Mill Road is over 85 years old and remains a strong part of the Royston community, offering the social benefits of a members Club to those who have joined the Legion first. We support the RBL’s wider aims with Royston Branch and welcome new members, whether family, single or group of friends. Club offers a range of activities throughout the year with seven days opening. The Club has a well-stocked Bar with good member’s prices. There is a good pool table with two teams in the local league, darts, fruit machines and juke box plus Wi-Fi throughout. We have also a Member’s Bar with TV for sporting events or a relaxing evening with friends.
