Based in Bassingbourn, The Belle recently reopened its doors as a destination bar and restaurant.
The bar hosts an extensive cocktail and gin list, boasting well over 100 gins at the last count!
The cocktails range from the classic – Strawberry Negroni (Belsazar Rose Vermouth + Strawberry Infused Campari + Gin) to the contemporary – Lady Marmalade (Marmalade Vodka + Bergamot + Sicilian Lemonade + Teapot Bitters), and as for the gins…. botanicals and garnishes include everything you can think of and then some more..cardamom, samphire, sea air (yes, really), tea, pink pepper, apricot, cherry.. oh the list goes on!
The restaurant offers a seasonally changing menu using locally sourced ingredients and adding a hint of flavour from the Middle East.
Our reviewers visited The Belle in early May, the first time they’d been through the doors in a few years.
“The food was delicious, the service excellent. We were made to feel very welcome.”They were impressed with the food, and enjoyed a spiced chicken liver terrain with apricot chutney and toasted flat bread, followed by dry aged hangar steak, salt baked celeriac, beef dripping, crumb rocket and coriander, and triple cooked chips served with a lemon aioli.
