The Road To Lords

Join Reed Cricket Club on the “Road to Lord’s” for the final of the National Village Cup, against Yorkshire Houghton Main.

According to the Route Planner, the distance between Reed Cricket Club and Lord’s Cricket Ground in St. John’s Wood is 43.9 miles via the A1.
And that is just about all the travelling Reed will have made on the “Road to Lord’s” this season, for in all the matches leading to this point in the 2019 National Village Cricket Championship, they have been drawn at home except for one round.

And that was at Foxton, only nine miles away along the A10. Having beaten Clubs from all over the country, Reed will now be contesting the Final against the battle-hardened Yorkshiremen from Houghton Main.
Reed is the only Hertfordshire Cricket Club to have won this prestigious competition in its 47-year history and intend to return home victorious for the third time having won at the iconic “Home of Cricket” previously in 2012 and 2017. Several Clubs have won the cup twice and only a handful have triumphed three times.

Led again by Captain, Tom Greaves, the players in the squad are largely unchanged from the 2017 team with the majority of these cricketers having been at Reed since they were Colts in the Under 9 age-groups. Many of them have already played for almost 20 years together.

The Club will be organising coaches to transport members and supporters to Lord’s on Sunday 15th September. The match will begin at 11am so coaches would have to leave at approximately 8.15/8.45am, depending on numbers with routes likely to be via the A1 and A10 with pick-ups in Meldreth, Royston, Reed, Buntingford and Baldock.
If you wish to book a seat on the coach, please email Cilla Robertson: cilla@richardandcilla.co.uk
The return journey will be departing from Lord’s at 6pm and the cost of a return ticket will be £10.
The published ground admission on www.lords.org shows tickets for children at £5, adults £15 and £7.50 for the over 65s.

We hope to see you there!
