The Volunteer Business Support Scheme
Hertfordshire businesses struggling to cope because of the pandemic can now access support for free. The Volunteer Business Support Scheme, launched 19 June, will help micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to bounce back and support them through the pandemic and beyond.
The scheme will match businesses with a volunteer mentor that has a breath of knowledge and experience within business and industry, acting as a critical friend or resource to help them navigate through the challenges the pandemic has posed for their business.
In addition, the mentors can help businesses navigate the resources and schemes available locally and nationally. Over 40 mentors have joined the scheme so far, which will run throughout 2020.
Helen Froggett- Thomson from high street family accountants, The Accountancy Practice in Royston has been appointed to head up a team of business mentors in a unique and pioneering scheme developed by a collaboration of the top business support agencies in the county.
Helen says ‘Companies who take advantage of external support tend to be most successful and I am thrilled to be heading up one of the two highly experienced teams of mentors. The other group is run by Neil Rutledge, board member of the Local Enterprise Partnership. I am keen to spread the word about the scheme to make sure small business owners hear about it and take advantage of it. We’re non judgemental and supportive. What have you got to lose?’
