British Raj – Royston’s original Indian restaurant – was established by Nazir Choudhury in 1976. A charming host & veteran restaurateur, Mr. Choudhury gave Royston its first experience of high quality British-Bangladeshi curry & tandoori cooking.
The restaurant went from strength to strength, collecting many national accolades across the years and was highly regarded as the ‘best Indo-Bangladeshi restaurant in East Anglia’.
Due to ill health, Mr. Choudhury retired after over 4 decades in the hospitality industry; subsequently, the British Raj sadly ended in 2004.
However, the spirit of the British Raj never ceased. Within the Choudhury family, there has always been a yearning to revive the Raj and bring back to Royston an unparalleled level of the very best Indian cuisine.
It is with pleasure, we re-launch this award winning institute – as an exclusive takeaway & delivery operation.
