Klimt was one of the most prominent figures in the Viennese fin de siècle, creating paintings whose sexual themes and bold use of colour and gold shocked an unsuspecting populace. Less is known about his early years as a muralist for the grand municipal buildings and royal and aristocratic palaces of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This lecture looks at the many changes in Klimt’s life, his rejection of public pomp and the impact on his style and works. Free Parking – lift access. History and decorating workshop.. You will learn all about the history of masks in Venice from 1162 till 1797 and those of the Commedia dell’arte. This will inspire you to then design and decorate your own full face papier mache mask. We will use acrylic paints as a base design and enhance the image with acrylic metallic colours such as gold, silver, copperand glitter paint if desired. Small inserts of sheet music or coloured paper maybe incorporated if required. There will be plenty of reference material to inspire you to create your own true design. You are welcome to bring some simple designs as reference and any special paper. This is an adult class for all levels for who wish to create and take home a unique mask. On this half day course you will learn about a new form of monoprinting using gel plates and acrylic paints, which is exciting and creative. You can use it to transfer images frommagazines and create layered prints using masking and textured materials. Gel Plates are a flexible plate made of a thick single layer of a gelatin-like plastic material which contains mineral oil. This plate is stable and reusable if it is cleaned after each use.
