Windependence Day

Windependence Day

*CHANGE OF DATE*

Due to the changing of Government guidance, the Great Chishill Windmill Opening will now take place in August, instead of July.

After four and a half years the restoration project at Chishill Windmill is complete!

The ancient postmill is saved for future generations who will see it constantly moving to face the wind automatically as the fantail turns in the breeze. So we thought we should celebrate this ‘independence’ and July 4th sprang to mind as the day to do that.

As well as the completion of the restoration, there is the long-awaited end of Covid restrictions on group meetings and, we hope, the start of the grand days of Summer. So please come and join us for a family picnic and a chance to catch up with friends on Sunday July 4th between noon and 5pm. Picnic food and drink will be available and the windmill will be open for guided tours. There will even be a quiz for the children.

It will be an old-fashioned get-together at one of the district’s most iconic historical building. Thank to all of you who have contributed to saving this wonderful community asset.
