A safe and friendly Youth football club for children from Bassingbourn and surrounding villages.
We run a very successful Saturday soccer development for 4-6 year olds and are a thriving and friendly club running league teams from under 7’s through to U18’s.

Foxton Bowls Club

We are a small friendly club situated on the Foxton recreation ground off Hardman Road.

Membership currently stands at around 40 and we are always looking to encourage new members to join us.

We have teams in the Cambridge and District League, the Meldreth League and the Foxton Midweek League and during the season usually hold roll ups on Thursday Afternoons and Monday evenings.

We meet on the last Sunday of every month at a pub in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire or Cambridgeshire.
We walk a circular route back to the same pub for a well-deserved Sunday lunch.

The group has weekends away during the year with longer stays in the summer.
We also meet on Christmas Day and New Years Day for group members who would like company.

We have a Facebook page for members to chat together and check walk venues.

We are a friendly group of French learners and native speakers who get together to speak French in a relaxed environment.
We meet on the last Wednesday of every month in a bar in the centre of Royston for a drink and chat. Every level of French is welcome (but no under 18s, sorry)!
We meet at 7:30pm, but feel free to turn up later if it suits you.
We will have a reserved table with a meetup sign so that we are easy to find (or just ask at the bar).

Luna Animal Rescue does not have a centre where you can go to, as all of our animals are in foster homes with their foster carers.
This way they live in family environments which is less stressful on the pets and presents them in a more natural manner than dogs kept in kennels may be.

Annual membership of the club is £1 and the cost is £2.50 per session.

The club and members are involved in the building of model railway layouts in all the major scales for their own enjoyment and have exhibited their layouts at Model Railway Exhibitions in the South East & East Anglia.

Royston Chess Club

All levels from novice to county standard. Teams in Herts League, Cambs League & in local league. Home matches are played on Mondays from 7.30pm (October - May) at Coombes Community Centre, Burns Road, Royston SG8 5PT. Occasional friendly/training meetings are held on other Monday evenings at Reed Cricket Clubhouse as the league timetable permits.

In aid of St Mary’s restoration fund meeting every Sunday 2:30-5pm until the end of October then Ashwell Museum take on exactly the same slot until mid-April. Sunday afternoon teas are held all year round in The Parish Room Swan Str, Ashwell, with two groups keeping it going in order to raise funds for their separate organisations.

Upper Cam Bird Ringing Group (UCRG)

We catch and ring birds on behalf of the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) and all data generated is submitted to their National Database to study aspects such as breeding success, winter survival rates, population changes etc.

We carry out the ringing sessions at 8 sites located in NE Hertfordshire, South Cambridgeshire and NW Essex (situated between Royston and Saffron Walden).

We meet at dawn on any day of the week when the weather is suitable (low winds and no rain) and run the sessions for 4 - 6 hours. We try to do 2 - 3 sessions per week as weather conditions allow.
