Out and About… Royston Health Walks
Help the NHS – Adopt a healthy lifestyle and reduce the demand for their services
Royston Health Walks is a community based, volunteer lead social walking group. We have two walks every Wednesday from The Heath Café, Baldock Road, Royston, SG8 5BG.
Our 10am walk over Therfield Heath is at a leisurely pace. It is an opportunity to have a chat and meet new people. We typically cover around 1.5 miles and end up at the Café for a brew.
Our second walk is similar to the first but the routes we take are a bit more challenging and a little longer. For the foreseeable future the start time will be 2pm but will go back to 5pm when daylight allows (call or email to confirm start time).
Everyone is very welcome to join us regardless of age, level of fitness and in principle state of health.
Social walking for many people can help them improve their physical and mental health and sense of wellbeing and it’s fun too. It could also play a part in reducing the demand for our local NHS services which has to be to everyone’s benefit. We are a friendly, welcoming, positively inclusive and non-cliquey group and welcome children, buggies and dogs. The walks are free and no booking is required.
During the last 4+ years we have had ‘walkers’ between the ages of 4 weeks and 93 years.
If you fancy a walk, a chat and a brew afterwards please feel free to join us.
