We have a number of different walks every Wednesday all of which start at The Heath Café, Baldock Road, Royston, SG8 5BG. At 10am we have a leisurely walk over Therfield Heath covering about 1½ miles and a slow/flat walk. Both are opportunities to get a bit of exercise, have a chat and meet new people. The groups come together at the Café for a brew around 11am, please feel free to join us. Our Wednesday afternoon walk is a bit more challenging and a little longer (about 2 miles) and starts at 5pm. As always we end up at the Café for a brew. Everyone is welcome to join us regardless of age, level of fitness and in principle state of health. We will have visiting stalls, a tombola and raffle, a second-hand bookstall and nearly new clothes and activities and games. You can enjoy tea and homemade cakes, or hot barbecued food, and there is a licensed bar. We are also delighted to be welcoming live music from local musicians including our ‘house band’, Sky West, and the Bishops Stortford Ukelele Society. Admission costs £2.50 for adults, children under 16 free. There is free parking’

This year he is once again opening a Pop-up Gallery in Heathfield, Royston for three weekends in July. On offer will be his individual style of wood turning which includes a variety of native timbers often including other materials to enhance the final effect. He uses timbers that many other woodturners would possibly ignore which helps to create unique pieces. He always uses ethically sourced timbers which often include what can only be described as ‘botanical roadkill’. Rowland’s work makes delightful presents for all occasions. At 10am we have a leisurely walk over Therfield Heath covering about 1½ miles and a slow/flat walk. Both are opportunities to get a bit of exercise, have a chat and meet new people. The groups come together at the Café for a brew around 11am, please feel free to join us. Our Wednesday afternoon walk is a bit more challenging and a little longer (about 2 miles) and starts at 5pm. As always we end up at the Café for a brew. Everyone is welcome to join us regardless of age, level of fitness and in principle state of health. This year he is once again opening a Pop-up Gallery in Heathfield, Royston for three weekends in July. On offer will be his individual style of wood turning which includes a variety of native timbers often including other materials to enhance the final effect. He uses timbers that many other woodturners would possibly ignore which helps to create unique pieces. He always uses ethically sourced timbers which often include what can only be described as ‘botanical roadkill’. Rowland’s work makes delightful presents for all occasions. ![]() Royston Health Walks Royston Health Walks is an independent social walking group. We have a number of different walks every Wednesday all of which start at The Heath Café, Baldock Road, Royston, SG8 5BG. At 10am we have a leisurely walk over Therfield Heath covering about 1½ miles and a slow/flat walk. Both are opportunities to get a bit of exercise, have a chat and meet new people. The groups come together at the Café for a brew around 11am, please feel free to join us. Our Wednesday afternoon walk is a bit more challenging and a little longer (about 2 miles) and starts at 5pm. As always we end up at the Café for a brew. Everyone is welcome to join us regardless of age, level of fitness and in principle state of health. ![]() Open Woodturning Gallery & Sale This is now the fifth year that this event has taken place. Rowland Penfold has for many years exhibited his work at Curwens Gallery in the High Street. This year he is once again opening a Pop-up Gallery in Heathfield, Royston for three weekends in July. On offer will be his individual style of wood turning which includes a variety of native timbers often including other materials to enhance the final effect. He uses timbers that many other woodturners would possibly ignore which helps to create unique pieces. He always uses ethically sourced timbers which often include what can only be described as ‘botanical roadkill’. Rowland’s work makes delightful presents for all occasions.
